BoE To Seek Additional $2 Million From County

Assuming no changes are made in the next week, it appears as though the Allegany County Board of Education will be seeking an additional $2 million from the county commissioners for the FY 16-17 operating budget. The board received about an hour presentation Tuesday afternoon from Finance Director Randy Bittinger outlining the budget proposal put together by the administration and staff in the past few months. The requested increase from the county is nearly 7% higher than lat years allocation and overall- including state funding- asks for an additional $2.8 million. At the board regular business meeting next week, a vote will be taken to approve the budget to be sent to the county commissioners for consideration. Board President Ed Root tells WCBC News he does have some concerns about how skyrocketing health care costs will impact employees….
