Justice Announces Replacement for Former WV House Delegate Evans

January 28th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has selected a delegate to fill the seat vacated by Derrick Evans, the lawmaker who went into the U.S. Capitol with a mob on Jan. 6 to protest the U.S. presidential election result.

Businessman Joshua Booth from Kenova was chosen as Evans' replacement.

Booth is vice president of Highway Safety Inc., a traffic safety control, signage, and striping construction firm based in Huntington.

Booth was not part of a list of possible replacements suggested by the district’s political committee, and a lawsuit challenging the governor's decision has been filed at the state Supreme Court.
