A new group of K-9 dogs that prove critical to prison safety by sniffing out drugs, cell phones and other contraband will graduate from training on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Myersville, Maryland.
The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at 301 Main Street and feature the newest four-legged members of the public safety and correctional services team.
The 32-dog elite K-9 Unit secures area facilities with their keen sense of smell by detecting banned items that fuel prison violence. The ceremony will include two dogs for Prince George’s County and another two for the District of Columbia’s Department of Corrections.
Several of the dogs have been rescued from area shelters and given a new life.
“It’s a validation of our training program that other departments are seeking us out as leaders in the industry to train their dogs to find drugs and other contraband,” said Major Mark Flynn, K-9 Unit Commander.
