Footer Dye Works Controversy

Mixed messages coming from the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority and the Maryland Historic Trust regarding the idea of demolishing the Footer Dye Works Building at Canal Place. Authority Chair Andy Vicks maintains that the authority has been told in no uncertain terms by the Historical Trust that the aging structure cannot be razed. Rodney Little, Director of the MHT, talked with WCBC News and said that the building has been deemed structurally sound- and that means there is no impetus to move in the direction of tearing it down.  Little denied telling Vick that the building under no circumstances could be demolished, but did say that the fact that the building is not at risk of collapse and can be salvaged was relayed to the Authority…
