Pouring hundreds of thousands, maybe millions into Greenway is all well and good. I guess most of the money and labor is donated. It’s a nice HS stadium but here’s the thing – the FH/ALCO football rivalry is all but dead. I will be shocked if Alco ever beats FH again in football. It is no longer a fair fight. Enrollments have been decreasing in both schools for years and is projected to continue downward, which makes one wonder why one Cumberland HS was never on the table when the new ALCO was built. The new Allegany is a beautiful school and there is no doubt the old Allegany was in bad shape and needed to be closed. But why we spent almost 60 million on a school for 640 students is a question that should be asked. Was it really just to keep the Homecoming game intact?
