Tri-State College Night

October 13th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

On Tuesday, October 11, 2016, Allegany College of Maryland hosted the annual Tri-State College Night.  More than 60 colleges, universities, technical schools and branches of the military were on hand to help parents and students make educated decisions about post-secondary plans. Additionally, nearly 200 area high school students and parents attended this year’s event.

Four high school students attending the event were the recipients of various scholarships totaling $1,400.  Garrett Ternent, junior at Mountain Ridge High School, and Shawna Layton, junior at Calvary Christian Academy, were the winners of $200 scholarships to the college or university of their choosing.  Parker Twigg, senior at Fort Hill High School, was the recipient of a $500 scholarship to the college or university of his choice, and Madison Reed, a senior at Mountain Ridge High School, earned a $500 scholarship to Allegany College of Maryland.

All four scholarship recipients were selected by random drawing.  Each of the students has two years to redeem their scholarship winnings from the 2016 Tri-State College Night.
