WV State Police Make Burglary Arrest

On February 15, 2019, 24 year old Dakota Daugherty was charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny following in investigation initiated on Sunday, January 13, 2019 in Elk Garden, WV by Sr. Tpr. Travelpiece of the West Virginia State Police. 

A total of five firearms were allegedly stolen during the commission of the crime as reported by the victim.  Sr. Tpr. Travelpiece with the assistance of Sr. Tpr. Bailey and Cpl. Hartman had been able to recover four of the firearms.  The fifth one was recovered on February 8, 2019, as a result of a Domestic Assault charge also investigated by the WVSP.  Daugherty was arraigned via video at the Potomac Highland Regional Jail for the Burglary and Grand Larceny where he has been incarcerated since his February 8, 2019, arrest. 

On that date, he was charged with two counts of Domestic Assault 2nd offense, being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Stolen Property, as well as Discharging a Firearm with-in 500' of a dwelling.  The firearm in question was the fifth and final firearm stolen from Sr. Tpr. Travelpiece's investigation.   Daugherty is a suspect in another theft investigation still pending.
