New Legislation To Combat Dynamic Pricing

Legislation aimed at protecting Marylanders from invasive data practices and unpredictable pricing is being introduced by Governor Wes Moore. The Protection From Predatory Pricing Act prohibits dynamic pricing in grocery stores – a practice where prices on items can change throughout the day and target who is looking at items. “It prohibits the use of surveillance data and automated systems to set individualized prices. When you walk into a grocery store in Maryland, you will pay the same price as the person who walks in before you and you will pay the same price as the person who walks in after you.”
