Westernport Library Receives Funding in Governor’s Proposed Budget
One million dollars for the flood-ravaged Westernport library is in Governor Moore’s proposed 2027 budget. Executive Director Lisa McKenney of the Allegany County Library System tells WCBC they had an idea funding was included but were not aware of how much until Moore’s speech at last Friday’s PACE breakfast. McKenney says the funds could ensure the Westernport Library is out of the way of any future flooding…
“We’re going to be working through that to see, you know, are they going to be able to do some things to mitigate flooding in that corridor on Main Street in Westernport so that our—those problems don’t exist for us. If that is not a possibility then we will want to explore a sustainable Westernport Library that is not in the crosshairs of a future flood.”
