Redistricting Bill Goes To Full House For Vote
After debate in the House Rules Committee, House Bill 488 will be headed to the full Maryland House of Delegates for a vote. HB488 is the controversial redistricting bill redrawing boundaries for the state’s congressional districts. Governor Moore has stated several times he wants a fair map, but House Minority Leader Jason Buckel questioned the reasoning around the map submitted…
“These maps are clearly derived for a purely partisan purpose. No one talked about uniting communities of interest. No one talked about fairness – I think the word was used. Everyone talked about Donald Trump, everyone talked about the House of Representatives. So you guys didn’t take into effect what the practical impact of the votes would be, whether a Democrat or a Republican would be more likely to win, based upon statistical data when you made these maps?”
