Letter Carriers Want New Contract

United States Postal Service letter carriers were out in force over the weekend to drum up support ahead of new contract negotiations. The National Association of Letter Carriers is looking for better working conditions and an end to the two-tier pay system. The Postal Service is having a hard time retaining newer employees at the entry rate of pay. Ryan McLane with the NALC says letter carriers work under all kinds of conditions to get the mail delivered…

“We’re out in the elements every single day and we don’t really have competitive wages, especially at starting pay. It also takes us twelve years to get to top pay which is extremely long when you’re struggling to get by.”
