Federal funding is going to the Garrett Pathways Initiative to improve safety and connectivity across Garrett County. A federal investment of $2.5 million dollars will allow pre-construction activities for development of a connected system of trails, shared-use pathways and sidewalk extensions along Maryland 135 and on the Oakland to Herrington Manor Trail. The improvements are intended to reduce conflicts between vehicles and non-motorized users, especially in areas where road shoulders are limited.
