Superintendent Presents Arnone Award

It’s not unusual for the Superintendent of Schools to present end-of-year achievement awards to students, but for Dr. Michael Martirano of Allegany County schools, this one was special. At a Mountain Ridge ceremony, Martirano along with Ellen Arnone, presented the Enordo “Moose” Arnone Athletic Scholarship to senior Cameron Breighner. The Superintendent shared a short biography of the award’s namesake…
“A graduate of Beall High School, Frostburg State. Went on to play minor league baseball, returned home. Taught at Beall High School, was assistant principal at Beall. Principal at Bruce High School, principal at the Career Center. And went on to become a board of education member. At the same time, he also raised me, on a personal note; and I am so indebted to Ellen and Moose Arnone for their guidance along the way.”
