Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson is now hinting that he may be ready to consider redrawing Maryland’s Congressional map this year.  The website Maryland Matters reports that Ferguson told a media outlet that he is discussing calling a special session of the General Assembly to take up the matter.  Ferguson cited the Supreme Court’s recent decision on the Voting Rights Act.  Ferguson had blocked consideration of redistricting during the 2026 General Assembly session, saying that such an action could have unintended consequences.  Democrats represent seven of Maryland’s eight Congressional districts, with Andy Harris of the Eastern Shore the only exception.
