Allegany County Commissioners were told to step down from their positions by LaVale resident Ellen McDaniel Weissler during Thursday’s public meeting due to complaints of alleged violations of the Open Meetings Act.  Though Maryland’s Open Meetings Compliance Board concluded the Board of Commissioners could tidy up meeting notices, no direct violations of the Open Meetings Act were found.  Despite their findings, Weissler still demanded transparency through their removal…

“You’ve abused the public trust, disgraced your offices, and invalidated the oaths you’ve taken.  You don’t deserve, nor have you earned the respect or the faith of the citizens of this county, and I call on you to resign your offices immediately and never run for public office again.”
