PA Teachers Union Wants Screen Limits, AI Oversight

A union president in Pennsylvania is proposing new limitations to artificial intelligence and cellphones in schools over concerns that overuse will harm children’s education. Randi Weingarten with the American Federation of Teachers shared ideas at the National Press Club suggesting a series of screen bans and AI restrictions that would support hands-on learning in schools over too much technology…
“I am not calling for an AI ban or a Chromebook bonfire. What I’m calling for is getting the balance right to harness the benefits of technology while mitigating the harms. I’m wary of the dangers of AI, but it is here to stay.”
