After several years of the tall white pole atop the Rosenbaum building swaying in the wind, some much needed maintenance will be performed this morning. Garrett Eagan with CG Enterprises tells WCBC news that Belt Corporation will be using a crane to hoist a man up to the top of the pole above the building to fix the rope and pulley so that a large American flag once again returns to the city skyline…

“We tried to put a flag up, unfortunately the mechanism at the very top of the flagpole was rusted and the cord was off the pulley and that’s not an easy fix. We kind of looked at you know, putting scaffolding around it and that really wasn’t safe or viable. We worked with several different contractors asking what they would do and I reached out to to Belt several months ago and asked them what they would do and they’ve been great to work with us and kind of help make that a reality.”

Mr. Eagan added that a flag-raising ceremony is being developed…

“Closer to the 4th of July having a flag-raising ceremony to officially put a flag back on top of the building and a flag flying in downtown Cumberland.”
