WCBC’s Mobile News Unit with Ella Holly spoke today with John Stakem, president of the Allegany County Board of Elections.  Stakem was monitoring polling places in the Frostburg area and noted that the light turnout today was no surprise when compared to presidential election years.  Stakem added that since Maryland is a closed primary state, Independent voters have little to do most years.  An exception would be Cumberland voters have the option to vote in the nonpartisan mayoral race.
