Cumberland Main Street Becomes 501(c)(3)

Cumberland Main Street, Inc., recently stepped out from under the Downtown Development Commission’s umbrella for the first time since it was created in 1988.  As Cumberland Main Street, Inc., the group is now an official 501c3 nonprofit organization which expands funding opportunities, according to Main Street Manager Melinda Kelleher…

“Before when I was a government entity—kind of under that umbrella—I was not able to apply for a lot of grants that were, like, private foundations, and funds, and community trust funds, and things like that because we did not have that charity status.  So, this will hopefully open some funding doors for us.
