Pirates Ahoy! Event July 8 in Frostburg
Frostburg’s annual Pirates Ahoy takes place Wednesday, July 8th. Participants will meet at City Place at 9 am for the famous “Scallywag Walk” to the Hotel Gunter. There, Matt James, author and illustrator, will meet with buccaneers for the reading of Nicola Winstanley’s The Pirate’s Bed, a book James illustrated. Sarah O’Neal, director of Frostburg State University’s Nowaczyk Family Children’s Literature Centre says James will share his artistic talents with the kids…
“Matt is also an author—he has lots of books—but the book we’re featuring is called The Pirate’s Bed, and Matt is the illustrator for that. So, he’s going to be sharing the book—he’s going to read the book to the children, but then he’s going to be doing a drawing demonstration from some of the things he drew in the book.”
