Maryland Alert For Heat Wave

Governor Wes Moore issued a declaration for a state of preparedness for the week’s heat wave over the region. With temperatures in the 90s and heat indexes over 100 degrees in some areas, the declaration enhances the state’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to potential hazards. For cooling centers, the state recommends any public place with air conditioning including libraries and retail stores. The Department of Emergency Services would open official cooling centers in the event of a major power outage.
