Fourteen people were killed between June 29th and July 5th on Maryland roadways. Eight people have lost their lives since the first of the month, bringing the total for the year to 195. While that number is below the same period last year, the Maryland Department of Transportation continues to urge drivers to obey posted speed limits, be aware of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcycles, and to avoid distractions like cellphones while driving. In 2025, almost 500 people died on Maryland roadways.
