Heritage Days America 250 to Feature First Oval Office
Heritage Days – The America 250 Edition will include the Museum of the American Revolution’s replica of George Washington’s Revolutionary War Tent. Historians will teach Washington’s life as they assemble the First Oval Office at Canal Place Festival grounds Saturday, September 12th. Washington began and ended his military career in Cumberland and Dave Williams of the Allegany County Historical Society says the project is a living history event…
“I think we all know Washington from the cliff-notes version. The older guy with the white hair, sitting on the horse and that’s that. What this is going to do is bring the reality of Washington’s life in the Continental Army as they move from camp to camp. So, it’s gonna bring a lot of reality to what George Washington really did in the Revolution.”
