Special Session Has Special Time Constraints

Kathy Cornwell

When the Maryland General Assembly gathers for its special session in early August, they may have wished they had chosen an earlier date. Lawmakers have set aside three days to address the override of any of Governor Moore’s vetoes from the last session and put together a constitutional amendment for the November election on redistricting.  House Minority Leader Jason Buckel told the Kim Klacik show that time is tight…

“They’re up against a hard deadline. There’s a statutory deadline that says that whatever the referendum question, the language of it will be, has to be published or certified by August 5th and that’s the last day of their special session. So there are definitely going to be issues with respect to the timing.”
