Oakland Woman Arrested for Child Neglect

On July 8, 2026, Oakland Police responded to the intersection of Fourth Street and Hill Street for a report of a 4-year child in the middle of the road. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division along with investigators with the Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services, began an investigation. As a result of the investigation, Detectives charged Jacqueline Jayne Webber, 34 years old, Oakland with Child Neglect. Webber was served a criminal summons issued by the District Court Commissioner charging her with the offense. Sheriff Meyers would like to thank the citizens who were traveling through the area and stopped to render aid to the child, promptly calling 911. Sheriff Meyers also commended the coordinated efforts of the citizens, the Oakland Police Department, Sheriff’s Office Detectives, and Child Protective Services. Their cooperation and commitment to protecting the safety and welfare of the child were instrumental in bringing the incident to a safe resolution.
