Maryland State Trails Open to Pedal-Assist E-bikes

Maryland DNR Logo
Jim Zamagias

Maryland State Trails are now allowing pedal-assist electric bicycles across the state.  The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says the e-bikes must be pedal assist and cannot provide motorized assistance beyond 20 miles per hour.  While maintaining trail safety and environment protections, the change is meant to welcome new user groups to public trails in state parks and boost options for those with mobility issues.
