WV Portable Benefits Bill Aids Independent Workers

Governor Patrick Morrisey recently signed the Voluntary Portable Benefits Act, allowing West Virginia businesses to contribute toward benefits for independent contractors—without changing their employment status. “There are a lot of good people who serve as independent contractors. They weren’t able to leverage some of the benefits, and quite frankly, the employers would want to do that. That’s something that we thought was worthy of a change.”
