Republican Caucus Speaks Out On Session Details

Maryland General Assembly

House and Senate Republican leaders have called out the lack of preparedness and transparency demonstrated by the Democratic majority ahead of the 2026 Special Session, beginning Monday, August 3. Members have received little information; the bill was just made available, and guidelines posted today indicate significant limits on the public’s ability to testify on the legislation. Guidelines posted on the General Assembly website Wednesday indicate that oral testimony will be limited to 50 individuals in total and, if more than 50 witnesses sign up, Committee chairs will select who gets to testify.
