Cemetery Group Works To Protect History

Since 1983, The Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization has honored the history and lives of veterans of the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and the World Wars through preservation and restoration of gravesites up and down the East Coast. History preservation has come with opposition from groups and individuals, but CHCO President Ed Taylor, Jr. tells WCBC they have made the decision to stand firm on safeguarding traditional history…

“Back in ’94, we were the only historic group that came to the defense of our city’s flags clear back to the French and Indian. Nobody stood with us. Back in 20024, when we went to defend the Ten Commandments, there were some small churches that stood with us – not one historic group would. None of them will stand up and protect America’s history and heritage.”
