Police Now Enforcing Bike Ban on City Sidewalks

City law enforcement can now enforce city code pertaining to the ban of bicycles, electric bicycles, skateboards and the like on the City of Cumberland’s downtown sidewalks.  The City Council recently reinforced city code a month ago, but Administrator Jeff Silka says violators can now be cited…

“The update to the code this time was giving the police the power to actually write the citations for it.  So, that brings that ordinance into compliance that we are able to cite people for breaking the ordinance, especially riding bikes in unsafe manners or on sidewalks.”
