Maryland Health Care for All is encouraging candidates for state offices to support a proposal to bring down the cost of prescription drugs purchased in the state. The proposal would allow Maryland’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board to set upper payment limits for drug costs in Maryland that match the Maximum Fair Price for drugs negotiated by the federal Medicare program. To date, Medicare has set MFPs for twenty-five high-cost drugs, saving Medicare and Medicare beneficiaries hundreds of billions of dollars per year.
