A $3 million dollar state grant is going to West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to support meeting infrastructure needs throughout southern West Virginia, including private or non-state-maintained bridges that leave families cut off following disasters. “Many of the people we serve and will be serving with these bridge issues may in fact be low income, elderly, have disabilities, and their ability to even have access to cross a single bridge to get out of their home but also for fire service or ambulance service.”
