County Pushing for Enterprise Zone Near Route 51

The deadline for Allegany County’s enterprise zone application is October as the county seeks that designation in the Mexico Farms area.  Enterprise zones target areas of economic need with tax breaks and incentives for business.  Nathan Price, a senior project manager for the county, told WCBC that the Mexico Farms area is promising.

“We are looking to apply for a new enterprise zone that would encompass the North Branch Industrial Park out Mexico Farms and we’d also like to expand that to include the Messick Road area.”
