City Finalizing Film Ordinance

When Paramount TV chose Cumberland and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad as a location for its Mayor of Kingstown production, it provided an opportunity for the city to develop a streamlined way for other movie or TV projects to come to the area. Tuesday, the city council went over the first draft of a film ordinance and Mayor Ray Morriss said it was made with assistance from those with industry knowledge…
“We had some great input on developing that ordinance from some local film makers who’ve made some films and Ashley Workman from Allegany County had some great input. And we did our due diligence, checking around in the state and other areas to see what’s the right way to do it.”
