County Receives Grant for Increase in Court Security

The Allegany County Commissioners approved receipt of a Court Security Officer Support Grant of just over $306,000 from the Maryland Judiciary.  The Allegany County Sheriff’s Department will disperse the funds within the county’s court system for increased staffing and training efforts, according to County Administrator Jason Bennett…

“We were going to have a staffing requirement for the sheriff to provide additional security at the courthouse anyways.  That’s going to allow the sheriff to go ahead and start upstaffing the courthouse to where it needs to be.”
