Verizon Phasing Out Copper Lines

Throughout the area, residents have been receiving letters from Verizon that reads as if their landline phone service is being discontinued.  Verizon is replacing copper-based home phone service and replacing it with fiber and digital technology. The letter indicates that there are several options for customers, which could include disconnection of the landline. Verizon issued a statement saying that as they transition from copper to modern networks, no customer will be without service. If a suitable replacement is not yet available in an area, the customer’s copper voice service will not be discontinued.
