Jobs Report Mixed For July, August

The Maryland Department of Labor is couching the latest jobs report in what they are calling volatile month-to-month fluctuations. Estimates released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the state added 2,000 jobs across July and August. That number is a net result, however. In July jobs rose by 10,200 but fell by 8,200 in August. The state says it shows steady growth in employment, but the current unemployment rate for Maryland is 4.1%, matching the national average.
