Local Red Cross Blood Drive October 15

The American Red Cross continues to highlight the importance of communities being prepared for disasters that can happen without warning.  A supply of blood products is an important part of preparation.  A blood donation can be scheduled by visiting redcrossblood.org for the blood drive on October 15^th at Bethany House of the Lord on Race Street.  Those who give through October 18^th will receive a $15 e-gift card to a retailer of their choice.  Jason Keeling with the Red Cross says blood can be used different ways…

“Every unit of blood that’s collected has different components.  Some people may be able to use red blood cells, others plasma, platelets.  There are a lot of different medical needs for blood and they are constant.”
