Governor Signs Orders To Address Housing Shortage

Maryland’s governor signed two executive orders on Thursday, designed to advance solutions for the state’s ongoing housing shortage.   Housing Secretary Jake Day said it was time for the construction industry to evolve…

“The housing crisis presents us with an opportunity to rethink an industry that has been remarkably unchanged for a century as we have built essentially the same way while other industries accelerate and innovate.”

Governor Wes Moore signed orders that accelerate the use of cost-efficient construction techniques and creates a task force for reforming permitting and licensing to move projects quicker…

“It’s job is to find unnecessary barriers that are slowing down permits, slowing down certifications, and make sure they are removed ASAP.”
