Plans For Feral Cat Control

Feral Cats
Kathy Cornwell

There is hope for addressing the concerns of citizens over growing colonies of feral or displaced cats throughout the city of Cumberland.  After a city council meeting earlier this month, Relove Animals’ Julianne Zimmer-Stammer met with officials to introduce a plan to address the overpopulation. Working with area nonprofits and the Animal Shelter, Zimmer-Stammer says the plan has three phases to help control the colonies…

“How to properly feed so there’s not a lot of extra food, so that there’s not plates everywhere which was a common complaint. And the second prong of that plan is do T-N-V-R which is trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return. And then the third prong would be maintenance – that would be communication to have them let us know when new cats show up.”
