Allegany County COVID-19 Update

Due to the more highly contagious Delta variant, COVID-19 rates continue to increase in Allegany County and across Maryland, with nearly 96% of all hospitalizations and deaths occurring in unvaccinated individuals.

As of August 12, 41.3% of Allegany County residents were fully vaccinated against COVID-19, compared to 59.9% of all Marylanders.  Health officials continue to urge unvaccinated members of the public to get their vaccine as soon as possible.

The Allegany County Health Department continues to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations every Wednesday on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex, 12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland.   From 9 a.m. to noon both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines are offered for those age 18 and older.  Then, from 1 to 4 p.m. the Pfizer COVID vaccine is offered for those age 12 and older.  No appointment needed.  Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • New COVID Cases:  20 (cumulative total 7,216)
  • Additional Deaths:  0 (cumulative total 214)
  • Cases Per 100,000 Population:  15.01 (Maryland: 13.81)
  • Positivity Rate:  4.81% (Maryland: 4.46%)

The Allegany County Health Department will offer walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations on the ground floor of the Willowbrook Office Complex (12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD) on Wednesday, July 28. ACHD reports that 40.5% of Allegany County residents are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 compared to58.3% of all Marylanders.
