On Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at approximately 9:00 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 600 block of N. Centre Street for an armed robbery. Officers arrived on scene and learned that the suspect, John Conner, had been armed with a knife, walked into the store, and attempted to rob the owner. A struggle ensued between Conner and the owner. The owner was able to disarm and detain Conner until responding officers arrived. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the altercation. Conner was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

On 9/9/16 at approximately 10:00pm, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office and, Troopers from the Maryland State Police were dispatched to the area of Blooming Field Drive, Rawlings, MD for a reported armed subject.
At approximately 9:56pm, Allegany County Joint Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that Brandon Zane Jones was en-route to the area of the Blooming Field Trailer Park armed with a Baseball Bat and a Handgun. The caller advised that Jones intended to harm several subjects in the area.
A Deputy who was in the area on an unrelated call was able to locate Jones approximately 100 yards prior to him reaching his intended victims. Jones was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the immediate area a wooden Baseball Bat and a loaded 9mm Handgun were located. Jones was then placed under arrest.
Charges:
Handgun on person
Felon in possession of regulated Firearm
Felon in possession of ammunition
Jones was later taken before the District Court Commissioner where he was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $7,500 bond.
