On March 9, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Anthony James Spencer. The original charges were out of Pennsylvania. Spencer was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center.
Arrest: Anthony James Spencer, age 54, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Out of state Fugitive from Pennsylvania.
Criminal Summons Served
On March 9, 2024, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Michael Edward Helmstetter Jr. The Criminal Summons was issued by the District Court. The original incident occurred on February 25, 2024 at a local establishment. The incident first started as a verbal argument over a game. Mr. Helmstetter allegedly pushed a subject causing him to fall and strike the back of his head.
Arrest: Michael Edward Helmstetter Jr., age 43, Cumberland Maryland.
Charge: Assault 2nd degree, disturbing the peace and disorderly.

Arrest Warrants Served
The Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant on Jordan Koby Patterson, age 23, of Cumberland, MD. The Arrest Warrant charged Patterson with Second Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct following a physical altercation that occurred on 7-10-22 at a downtown business. Patterson is alleged to have struck the male victim several times, causing physical injury. Based on the extent of the injuries, an application of charges was filed at District Court and the Warrant was issued. Patterson was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own recognizance.

Charges: Second Degree Assault, Disorderly Conduct
The Cumberland Police served an Arrest Warrant on Robert Michael Washington, age 43, of Cumberland, MD. The Warrant was a result of an assault investigation that occurred on 7-11-22. The Police were called to a medical facility due to an assault patient that was in their care. Through the investigation it was learned that Washington had assaulted the female cohabitant who sustained injuries. An application for charges was filed and a Warrant was issued charging Washington with First and Second Degree Assault. Washington was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner and was held on a $3,000 bond.
Criminal Summons
The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Brandon Scott Montgomery, age 29, of Rio, WV. The Summons charged Montgomery with Theft $1,000 to under $10,000 due to an investigation of a theft of a bicycle from a business on the 600 block of West Industrial Blvd. Montgomery was seen on video taking the bicycle and later identified. He was issued the Summons and released pending trial.
The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Raymond Lee Butts Sr, age 48, of Cumberland, MD. The Summons charged Butts with Fail to Obey a Reasonable and Lawful Order and Obstructing and Hindering. The charges were a result of an incident that occurred on 7-2-22. Officers were called to a residence on Potomac St for a trespassing complaint. When the Officers attempted to contact Butts, he fled from the area after being ordered to stop. Butts was later identified and it was learned that he had an active Arrest Warrant at that time. He was issued the Summons and released pending trial.
