Bedford Street Assault Arrest

On Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, an officer on patrol with the Cumberland Police Department observed two subjects actively fighting in the street in the area of the 300 block of Bedford St. The officer stopped and exited their cruiser, and were able to separate the two subjects. Both subjects then became uncooperative and denied that any assault was observed. The two subjects, Dennis Leo Landis Jr, 33, and Neily Larrice Richardson, 28, were placed under arrest and transported to the Central Booking unit at the Allegany County Detention Center. Both were then taken before a District Court Commissioner for Initial Appearances. Landis was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. Richardson was released on her own recognizance.

On Sunday, March 24th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Bedford St for the report of an assault. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with a female victim. The victim alleged that she and Robert Lee Harris, 37, had gotten into a verbal disagreement inside the home. The incident then turned physical, and Harris assaulted the female, leaving visible injuries. Harris fled the scene on foot prior to officers’ arrival on scene. Harris was able to be located later in the night and was taken into custody without issue. Wight was transported to the Central Booking unit of the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently awaiting his Initial Appearance.
