Busy Friday for Police

On Friday the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on William Foster Younger.  The warrant was issued by Circuit Court for failing to follow the conditions of his probation ordered by the court back in March, 2018 for an assault charged.  He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond until he can be seen by a Circuit Court Judge.

Bench Warrant

 

The Cumberland Police Department served a District Court bench warrant on Charlie Bret Parker for failing to appear for trial on April 30th, 2021 for numerous traffic charges.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.

Summons Served

 

 Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Devone Theodore Baskin for illegal possession of a regulated firearm.  The charge stems from an investigation conducted by Cumberland Police back on April 15th, 2021 when officers seized a handgun from a Pennsylvania Avenue residence alleged to have belong to Baskin.  At the time of the seizure, Baskin was prohibited from possession any regulated firearms.  He signed and received copies of the charging documents and was released pending trial.

On Friday the Cumberland City Police Department arrested Francis Damien Nizer, age 41, of Cumberland MD. Nizer was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from an incident that occurred on May 19, 2019. During that incident, Cumberland City Police responded to Constitution Park in reference to an assault that had occurred. Once there, City Police contacted the alleged victims of the assault. It was learned that Nizer and a female acquaintance had came to the park and attended a private event in which they had not been invited. Shortly after their arrival, an argument broke out. It was reported that Nizer and the female then assaulted 3 subjects in attendance, including a juvenile. They then left the scene prior to officer’s arrival. As a result, arrest warrants were issued for both Nizer and the female. The female was arrested on a previous date. Nizer was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on a $5000 bond.

**Criminal Summons Arrest*

 

Later Friday, Police  served a criminal summons on Regina Gail Whorton, age 58, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on July 24, 2019. During that incident, The Cumberland Police responded to the 30 block of West First St, initially for an officer standby. Once on scene, officers were informed by a female victim that they had been assaulted. The victim advised officer’s that they had gone to the residence to retrieve personal belongings and called for police to stand by while the items were obtained. Prior to officer’s arrival on scene, the female was assaulted by Whorton, causing minor injury to her arm. Whorton was issued the criminal summons and released pending trial in District Court.
