On Saturday, December 30, 2023 at approximately 8:40 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the first block of E. Elder Street for the report of an assault. Police contacted the alleged victim who explained that she was assaulted at a residence in the 900 block of Virginia Avenue. The victim reported that Kaitlyn Bucklin slapped her in the face and scratched her legs. Officers observed injuries to the victim that were consistent with her statement. Police located Bucklin at the residence on Virginia Avenue and placed her under arrest. Bucklin was transported to Central Booking at the Allegany County Detention Center. During booking, Bucklin was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance which was then seized by police. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Assault/Child Abuse Arrest
On Saturday, July 20th, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded a Frederick Street residence for a report of a disturbance and an assault complaint. When officers arrived, they witnessed a male, identified as Ron S. Claggett Jr, holding an infant while shoving a female. Officers observed red marks on both the female and the infant. Claggett was arrested and charged with second degree assault and second degree child abuse. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on an unsecured bond pending trial.
