City Police Make Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On Sunday, March 17, 2024 at approximately 12:17 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on S. Mechanic Street for a fight in progress.  When officers arrived, they observed a subject, later identified as Allen Stevens Jr, flee the scene on foot.  Officers engaged in a foot pursuit and were able to apprehend Stevens in the 100 block of S. Liberty Street.  Stevens was transported to police headquarters and later released on a criminal citation.

On Tuesday, February 12th, 2019 the Cumberland Police Department responded to Bellevue Street in reference to a report of a male subject that was tampering with parked vehicles in the area.  When officers arrived, they located the male identified as Michael Anthony Butler Jr., inside the complainant’s vehicle. Officers made contact with Butler to arrest him at which point he began to act in a disorderly manner and resist their attempts to take him into custody.  Butler was eventually placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department. He was charged with rogue and vagabond, disorderly conduct, and resisting arresting arrest. Butler also had an active arrest warrant out of Frederick County for failure to appear for trial.  He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a temporary commitment.
