City Police Make Trespassing Arrest

On February 10th, 2024, at approximately 1:39 pm, officers of the Cumberland responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a reported trespassing complaint. Upon officer’s arrival they observed Martin Stanback, who had been previously served with a “No Trespass” order for the business. Stanback was placed under arrest and later released on a Criminal Citation pending his trial at the District Court.

Arrest: Martin Lewis Stanback, age 33, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Trespassing.

On Thursday November 10, 2016, Cumberland City Police Officer’s responded to a private residence in the 500 block of Columbia Street for a reported theft.  Investigation into this matter revealed that William Thayer, age 49 of Cumberland, stole a quantity of household items from the victims residence.  The victim had security surveillance cameras which clearly showed Thayer taking a chainsaw and a toolbox.  Thayer was located at his residence and tried to conceal the stolen items in front of officers.  He was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  Thayer was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

CHARGES:  Theft less than $1,000.00, Obstructing & Hindering.
