ASSAULT ARREST

 

On Friday, October 10, 2025 at approximately 9:30 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of Independence Street for an assault.  Officers contacted an alleged victim who reported that he was assaulted by Jeremy Thomas.  Officers observed that the victim had sustained injuries.  After further investigation, Thomas was placed under arrest. When officers attempted to place Thomas in hand restraints, he resisted arrest.  After a brief struggle, he was able to be taken into custody.  Thomas was transported to the hospital by the Cumberland Fire Department at his request.  Once Thomas was released, he refused to cooperate with the police and assaulted an officer.  He was then transported to Central Booking and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  At the conclusion, he was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.

CHARGES:  Assault-2nd Degree (x2), Resist Arrest

ASSAULT ARREST

 

On Saturday, October 11, 2025 at approximately 12:20 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of Homer Street for a disturbance.  Police contacted an alleged victim who reported that Jacob Haines had assaulted her.  Officers observed that the victim had sustained injuries.  After further investigation, Haines was placed under arrest and later transported to Central Booking.  He was seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

 

ARRESTED:  Jacob Lee Haines         AGE:  36          Cumberland, MD

CHARGES:  Assault-2nd Degree, Child Abuse-2nd Degree: House 

 

 

September 21st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

On September 20th, 2025 the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Frank Leonard Nicol Sr. The warrant was issued as a result of Nicol failing to appear for court on September 17th, 2025, for original charges of trespassing on posted property. Nicol was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking where he was later presented before a District Court commissioner and released pending trial at District Court.
