City Police Report Saturday

***Adult Arrest***

On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 400 block of Greene St for the report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers contacted a store employee. The employee advised that a white female had entered the store, grabbed numerous food items, and began to consume them prior to paying for them. Contact was then made with the suspect, Brittany Lynn Lantz, 35, of Cumberland MD, who advised officers that she had in fact not paid for the items. It was then discovered that Lantz had an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court. The warrant alleged that Lantz failed to comply with an order of the court that stemmed from a previous charge of theft less than $100. As a result, Lantz was placed under arrest. She was issued a criminal citation for theft before being taken in front of a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance on the warrant. Lantz was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where she is currently being held without bond.

Charges: Bench Warrant – Failure to Comply, Theft less than $100.

 

***Adult Arrest***

On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, The Cumberland City Police arrested Joseph Westley Garris, 45, of Cumberland MD. Garris was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on August 21st.  The warrant alleged that Garris violated the terms and conditions of probation that had been placed upon him due to a previous conviction on 2nd degree assault charges. Garris was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

Arrested: Jospeh Westley Garris         Age: 45

Charges: Bench Warrant – Violation of Probation.

 

***Adult Arrest***

On Friday, August 23rd, 2024, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 300 block of Frederick St for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted the complainants who advised that they had given a female subject a ride to town and they were now refusing to exit their vehicle. They further advised that the female also threatened and assaulted one of the complainants. Officers then contacted the female, Jessica Domini Durham, 39, of Cresaptown MD. While speaking with Durham, she refused to comply with the officer’s orders to cease her disruptive behavior. Durham continued yelling and throwing items in the parking lot. As a result, Durham was placed under arrest and transported to the Central Booking unit at the Allegany Count Detention Center. She is currently awaiting an Initial Appearance to determine bond.

Charges: Disorderly Conduct, Fail to Obey.

Warrants Served

 

On 07/05/2024 the Cumberland City Police Department served two Arrest Warrants on Jessica Buckingham. Buckingham failed to appear in court for a theft charge. Buckingham was also wanted for issuing a bad check at a business in the 200 block of Franklin Street on 07/15/2018. Buckingham received a hearing before a District Court Commissioner and was released on her personal recognizance.

 

Arrested – Jessica Lee Buckingham (30) Greenspring, WV

Charges – Bench warrant failure to appear and bad check issue $100 to less than $1,500.00

 

Adult Arrest

 

On 07/05/2024 at approximately 4:30 PM an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was conducting foot patrols in the area of the George Washington Monument on Greene Street. During that time the officer observed several subjects in a disturbance. The officer advised the subjects to leave and not cause any further issues. The officer checked back later in the shift and observed Jeannie Rymer still in the area causing a disturbance. Rymer was once again requested to leave however she refused. Rymer was placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station. Rymer was issued two criminal citations and released pending trial in District Court.

Charges – Disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order

Warrant Served

 

On 07/05/2024 the Cumberland City Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on

Caitlyn Biggs. Biggs failed to appear in court for a traffic charge of leaving the scene of an accident to unattended property. Biggs received a hearing before a District Court Commissioner and was released on her personal recognizance.

 

Arrested – Caitlyn Noel Isabella Biggs (31) Cumberland, MD

Charge – Failure to appear
